Fractures to the upper and lower leg

Shaft fractures on the adult femur require surgical reduction and stabilisation as they cannot be sufficiently immobilised by external splinting.

New, minimally invasive techniques and implants provide optimum stabilisation depending on the type and shape of the fracture.

Most tibial shaft fractures require surgery for correct fracture reduction and mobility in the leg and surrounding joints without splinting. A variety of surgical techniques with different implants are available for these injuries.
